Haha this is hilarious! anglo or not, I am taking this asap.
Posted by: Maria at April 18, 2005 10:36 PM PermalinkI got:
40% General American English
40% Yankee
15% Dixie
5% Upper Midwestern
0% Midwestern
I got 55% GAM, 35 % Yankee, rest I can't remember. Of course that's all 'fiction', since I haven't even been to USA, heh.
Posted by: Maria at April 19, 2005 02:30 AM PermalinkToo bad they don't seem to have an explanation of their ratings. I hardly think I'm 20% Dixie, having grown up in the suburbs of New York.
Posted by: Attila (Pillage Idiot) at April 20, 2005 06:46 PM PermalinkI think it just means that you gave 4 answers that they consider typical of Southerners.
Posted by: David Boxenhorn at April 20, 2005 06:51 PM PermalinkI just noticed that since there are 5 categories and only 3 answers per question, I bet that each question has one "General" answer and two from one of the other four categories. That means that the highest score possible for the non-General categories would be 50%. A "perfect Yankee", for example, would get a score of 50% General, 50% Yankee. (Not too far from what I got...)
Posted by: David Boxenhorn at April 21, 2005 05:52 AM Permalink45 gen, 40 yank, 15 Dixie - makes sense, raised my Yankees in DC, moved to NE then to NC. Fun quiz.
Posted by: Alice at April 22, 2005 03:17 PM PermalinkI was curious how the quiz worked after I took it, so I changed my answers one question at a time to see how it affected the results. I wanted to know how I got 65% GAE, 20% Yankee and 15% Dixie since I'm from NC. (I'm leaning towards blaming the TV.)
Make of this what you will.
#/% of questions giving said response:
General American English 18/90%
Yankee 14/70%
Dixie 10/50%
Upper Midwestern 5/25%
Midwestern 2/10%
(Yes, I know my geek is showing.)
